Laurel High School softball players and fans gathered on their home field on Thursday, May 4, to celebrate their senior athletes and play ball against the Lockwood Lions. The game began by recognizing Mia Anderson, Dalilah Hernandez and Tierra Langford, and their families, for their contributions to Laurel High School. After the ceremony, the Lady Locos hit the field and handed the Lions a 12 — 2 loss. Laurel’s bats were on fire with Josie Benson and Dalilah Hernandez sending the ball out of the park in the 3rd inning. Unfortunately, the Locos didn’t carry their winning streak into their game against Central on Saturday, May 6. The Locomotives lost 16 — 9, despite home runs by Josie Benson and Tierra Langford.
The Lady Locos will travel to Butte for the Lavern Combo tournament on Friday and Saturday, May 12 and 13, before Divisionals begin at Stuart Park on May 18.
