Just where is the line drawn?

From the editor’s desk

Several folk have raised legitimate questions about the Outlook’s editorial policy. To be clear: Anything printed on this page is the opinion of the author. None of the columns or cartoons necessarily

reflect the views of the newspaper, which is why we like to change

it up sometimes to give all sides of the political divide a voice.

However, we won’t knowingly print falsehoods or lies. That’s why we are not printing this week’s column by Krayton Kerns,

fittingly titled “Where’s the line?” He crossed that line by depicting

Democrats as promoting pedaphelia, among other abhorrent behaviors. This is hardly a plank in the Democratic platform and just isn’t true.

If you want to read Kern’s column this week I suggest you pick up a copy of The Yellowstone County News. And, while you’re at it read Carl Wolf’s column. Despite the abuse he has taken for his level-headed and insightful opinions, I doubt he would ever cross that line.

We will continue to run Kern’s column occasionally because so many of our readers enjoy his clever turns-of-phrase that often lead

to conclusions that are way out in right field.
