Thomas Wood ‘Woody’ Henry

Thomas Wood “Woody” Henry, 75, was a geologist and paleontologist with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) for more than 22 years. Upon retiring from the USGS, he taught geology at Front Range Community College in Colorado. Woody passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 24, 2018. He is survived by his wife, Susan Jackson Henry of Laurel, Montana, two daughters, one son, three stepsons, and eight grandchildren.

Born and raised in Arkansas, Woody earned several degrees at the University of Oklahoma, culminating in a PhD in Geology in 1973.

Woody was an active member of the Billings Unitarian Universalist fellowship and was an avid gardener, nature photographer and baseball enthusiast. He most enjoyed traveling, hiking, and helping friends and neighbors.

Services for Woody will be held on Saturday, March 3 at 11 am at Smith Downtown Chapel, 925 South 27th Street, in Billings, MT. Donations can be made to American Civil Liberties Union, Compassion & Choices, or the Shriner’s Hospital for Children. Condolences may be shared with the family at smithfuneralchapels.com.
