Mandeville to run for reelection

Representative Forrest Mandeville (R-Columbus) has announced he is seeking reelection to House District 57, a position he had held since first elected in November 2014.  House District 57 encompasses all of Stillwater County and the eastern part of Sweet Grass County.

“I am running for reelection to continue working for the people of House District 57 on issues important to them,” Mandeville said. “Issues such as protecting Montana jobs through the responsible development of natural resources, growing our economy by ensuring a friendly business climate, and holding politicians and government officials accountable to the people of Montana.”

Mandeville carried legislation last session to extend an appropriation from the hard rock mining trust account to ensure that counties and schools districts affected by mining operations would continue to be protected in the event of a closure. This bill, House Bill 156, was supported by industry, counties, and school administrators. Mandeville also carried House Bill 507, a bill to ensure transparency and efficiency in subdivision review. Both of these important bills passed and were signed into law.

As chair of the House State Administration Committee, Mandeville worked to protect the integrity of the election process, find efficiencies in state and local governments, and to ensure the viability of our public employee retirement systems.

“I am extremely honored to serve the people of House District 57,” said Mandeville. “I look forward to continuing working with my constituents to make government more reasonable and continuing to protect private property rights. I am excited to continue the work I have started and humbly ask for your support in my reelection effort.”

In addition to chairing the House State Administration Committee, Mandeville served on the Human Services and Local Government Committees, on which he served as Vice-Chair, and currently serves on the State Administration and Veterans’ Affairs Interim Committee.

Mandeville was born and raised in Columbus, where he still lives with his wife, Rebekah, sons Stephen (four years old) and Matthew (two years old), and daughter Emaline (one month old).
