Laurel’s Officer Gregory recognized for efforts to stop DUIs

The Angel Tree and Awards of Merit Ceremony was last Thursday, Dec. 21, at noon at the Yellowstone County Courthouse. The Angel Tree is a memorial to innocent victims of DUI crashes in Yellowstone County. An angel was added to the tree for Jashua James Fry, 31, who was killed on March 7, 2016 riding his motorcycle on South Frontage Road. He was killed after a passenger vehicle pulled out in front of him causing the two to collide at 6:44 p.m.
The Award of Merit recipients are recognized for their accomplishments related to the enforcement of DUI laws, prosecution of DUI offenders, and raising awareness on DUI issues.
Officer Fred Gregory was the recipient for the Laurel Police Department. He was given his award with Deputy Bethany Richter, the recipient for the Yellowstone County Sheriff’s Office; Officer Glen Gunther of the Billings Police Department; Trooper Kirk Robbins of the Montana Highway Patrol; and Brandon and Carmen Ihde of the Yellowstone County DUI Task Force.
