Landis to present at Audubon meeting

Renowned videographer Bob Landis will again present a collection of great wildlife clips at the Yellowstone Valley Audubon Society’s December meeting. The special program will be held Monday, Dec. 18, at the Mayflower Congregational Church on the corner of Rehberg Lane and Poly Drive with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. and the presentation beginning at 7 p.m.
This year’s program includes sequences of bald eagles in a talon lock, a gray wolf encountering coyotes at a kill, and several clips from an otter program that is just beginning to be edited.  A grizzly swimming in a partially frozen Blacktail Pond in Yellowstone National Park is included.  The magic of Blacktail Pond is an ongoing Landis project, and the bear was soon called Polar Bear. Finally, Landis returned to Alaska to film fall colors and several brown bears that have a unique way of catching salmon. Throw in the usual time lapse sunrises and many slow motion shots and you have a 45 minute program jam packed with some of the best wildlife footage to be had thanks to Landis.
This special presentation is free to YVAS members and non-members have the option of paying $20 per family which includes a one year family membership in YVAS or $10 each without the benefit of the YVAS membership. Student fees are $10 including membership and $5 without membership. Membership applications are available on the YVAS website and will be available at the door – but do come early.
