Get used to the trucks!

Laurel’s Chief of Police Rick Musson is taking the extra truck traffic in Laurel in stride. Due to the interchange construction there are belly dump trucks, some pulling trailers, going through the city non stop.
“They aren’t going anywhere anytime soon,” he said. “You might as well get used to it.”
He stated that officers haven’t noticed truck drivers speeding and they are taking precautions when they turn on and off Main St. and going through the four-way stop on 1st Ave. and 1st St.
“Listen,” the Chief said. “You know I’m not an alarmist. People just need to take care when they are driving. Those trucks are big, but they are going to be here.”
The trucks are hauling dirt from north of Laurel to the the construction sites of the new east and west interchanges. One site is at the location of the previous west-bound interchange off Old Hwy 10 and the other is off of W. Railroad St., west of South Pond.
The $30 million project includes moving the off-ramp further west to W. 19th, making it accessible from both directions and replacing the bridges over Montana Rail Link tracks.
