Laurel Democrats meet for last time in 2017

The Laurel Democratic Club met Nov. 14 for dinner and a meeting at the Owl Cafe. Vice-president Shirley Hanson called the meeting to order and led the pledge to the flag then introduced Christl Donati, events chair of the Yellowstone County Democratic Central Committee.
In addition to the two major fund-raisers the Central Committee holds yearly, Donati announced Democrats will have a float in the Billings Christmas parade the day after Thanksgiving and she asked about Laurel’s Christmas to Remember parade.
Central Committee meetings are held the third Wednesday of every month. Donati explained how  members who cannot attend personally could participate in the Central Committee meetings by conference call.
Donati then “switched hats” and presented information about her primary choice to run for US Congress,  John Heenan.
“The field is expanding and Democrats have five great candidates so far. I personally support Heenan but I will whole-heartedly support the nominee of the party whoever that is,” Donati said. The YCDCC has not endorsed a candidate.
The Laurel Democratic Club does not meet in December so the next scheduled meeting is Jan. 9, 2018 when we will meet at the Owl at 5:30 p.m. for dinner and 6:15 p.m. for election of officers. All are welcome.
