John Deere Ag Expo begins today

For the fifth consecutive year, Montana State University will host more than a thousand junior high and high school students for the John Deere Ag Expo, set for Thursday, Nov. 9, through Saturday, Nov. 11. The event is sponsored by the Montana FFA Foundation and regional John Deere dealers and is free and open to the public.
Over the course of the three days, hundreds of Montana FFA and 4-H members from across the state will take part in 25 career development events including: agricultural mechanics and food science presentations, agronomy workshops and agricultural communication seminars. The expo will also bring to campus numerous industry professionals and staff and faculty in MSU’s College of Agriculture. Students will have a variety of opportunities to learn about agriculture in Montana, meet with MSU faculty, tour the campus and facilities, and learn about future careers in agriculture.
MSU President Waded Cruzado will welcome FFA students to MSU. A hosted dinner will follow Cruzado’s welcome and feature Jay Hill, farmer and agricultural advocate, who will give a keynote address.
This year, Montana FFA celebrates its 88th year with 94 FFA chapters across the state and a combined membership of more than 4,000 students, according to event organizers.
The Montana FFA mission includes making positive difference in the lives of its members across the state through agriculture education, leadership and career development events, and the promotion of community based projects.
