The Joliet Boys and CJ Roadrunners Girls Cross Country teams had a good showing at the State meet in Helena over the weekend, with Coach Rachel Herrington saying “all of the participants worked hard and finished strong.”

Individually, Jakob May placed 15th overall in Class B boys with a time of 17:59, which earned him All-State honors.

Herrington said “it was an amazing fight for the finish. All of his hard work and dedication throughout the season really paid off.”

The J-Haws boys team placed 15th out of 22 teams.

Seniors Parker Smith and Dawson Bancroft finished their last high school race in 20:19 and 21:00.

Herrington said Brigham Smith and Riley Simons achieved personal records at the meet with times of 21:29 and 24:26.

The CJ Roadrunners placed 16th out of 19 teams and Jalyn Songstad was the first runner through in 25:17, good for 79th place out of 151 participants. Megan Deines took 84th with a time of 25:47 and senior McKendra O’Dore completed her final high school meet in 27:36.

Herrington said, “It was a great day to end the season on,” then offered these words to the seniors:

“Good luck to the team members who are moving on, thank you for everything that you have contributed to this team over the past 1-7 years, you are all going to be greatly missed. Thank you also to Colton Bauwens for all of your hard work and dedication as our manager throughout the season. I do not know what we are going to do without you next year. Work hard seniors, and finish your high school studies with as much strength and fortitude as you did finishing your Cross Country season. Blessings to you as you start on your next journey in life, wherever that may take you.”
