Laurel Garden Club had busy summer

In August, the Laurel Garden Club met at Barb Kress’ home to enjoy a potluck-style dinner. Afterwards the members toured the Kress’ beautiful garden. The Garden Club provided chicken for all to be eaten along side various fresh salads and desserts.
The ladies met after dinner to discuss upcoming evens, such as the Beartooth Clinic which will be hosted in Laurel this year. Two books have been donated to the Laurel Public Library in honor of members, Angie Thom and Sharon Orednick, who both passed away this year.
In September, the Club met in the home Laci Markegard. Members enjoyed the drive out into the country, despite the gloomy fall weather. Three members presented their idea for the Elsie Garden and the proposals were accepted by all that were present. Weeding and decorating took place in the gardens by the Laurel Chamber of Commerce several times throughout the summer.
The Garden Club was able to decide on a theme for the Beartooth Clinic and members are in the process of finding the perfect location to host. Planning for events such as the Crossroads Christmas Tree contest and the Garden Club’s Christmas party took place in September, as well.
New members are always welcomed by this working club. The next meeting will be in the home of Pat Franzen’s daughter today, Thursday, Oct. 12, at 1:30 p.m.
