Laurel boys to host Central on Thursday

The Laurel boys are still thinking about the game that got away Saturday.
The LHS soccer team traveled to Belgrade in the conference opener against the well-coached Panthers.
Even though the Panthers went up 1-0 seven minutes into the game, LHS hung tough and continued to press the field and the defense held Belgrade to only a few shots.
It appeared the Locos had tied the game in the 27th minute when a Laurel striker hit a shot past the Belgrade keeper. The goal was called back on an offside call.
The game was 1-0 at halftime.
LHS senior attacker Luis Vega had several spectacular shots on goal only to miss.
The game remained tight until the very end when Belgrade scored two late goals to come away with a 3-0 win.
The Locos now turn their attention to Thursday’s rivalry game with Billings Central. To add to the intrigue, Central played to a tie with Park County on Saturday.
Coach Larry VanderPool says Thursday’s game will go a long way to determining where his team is the rest of the season.
The team had some strong moments on Saturday, he said. On Thursday, he expects even more.
The boys and girls travel to Livingston on Saturday.”
