Photo courtesy Gloria Allwin. Joliet runner Jakob May finishes at the Billings Invitational at Amend Park in Billings on Friday. The J-Hawk senior won the JV race with a time of 18:43.53. On Tuesday, at the Huntley Project Invitational, May had a solid 4th place finish with a time of 18:25.43.

Joliet Boys JV and the CJ Roadrunners had a successful meet at the Billings Invitational on Friday in spite of the heat and smoke. 

Jakob May won the boys JV event with a time of 18:43. Kendall Newton was second on the team with 21:02, Parker Smith had 21:39; Dawson Bancroft, 22:40; Brigham Smith, 22:49; Raiden Ovitt, 24:19 and Jacob Sironon 29:51 and Riley Simons at 30:08.

Keelie O’Reilly was the fastest CJ Roadrunner with 26:10. Liz Lorash had 27:42, followed by Megan and Emily Deines at 28:20 and 28:50; Allison Onoszko posted 29:25 and McKendra O’Dore had 31:14.

Coach Rachel Herrington said it was a tough race overall, but she and “coach Simpson are proud of the team for the effort put forth by each individual.”

At Tuesday’s Huntley Project Invitational, May took 4th with a time of 18:25.43.

O’Reilly was the top girl’s finisher for Joliet taking 27th with a time of 25:27.40. 

 

Laurel

Laurel’s Levi Taylor finished second at the Billings Invitational by .012 of a second to Sheridan’s Brian Gonda Friday at Amend Park in Billings with a time of 16:36.90.

Grace Timm finished second on the girls side with 19:28.11.

In Tuesday’s Huntley Project Invitational Taylor and Timm won the boy’s and girl’s side by more than a minute each. Taylor finished at 16:51.82 and Timm at 19:13.00.

The Laurel boys won the meet as a team and the girls finished second behind Colstrip.

Ethan Doty finished 10th with a time of 18:45.07, Haden Wilson took 11th with 18:47.33 and Johnny Herr got 13th with a time of 19:11.90.

Andria Mourich took 6th with a time of 22:45.89, Lizzie Wisecup got 9th with 22:57.11 and Danae Filpula-Ankey took 24th with 25:06.80.
