The J-Hawks are flying high after picking up road victories in their first two games of the season.
The Joliet defense blanked another opponent in the first half on a Friday night; this time the Absarokee Huskies.
Joliet took a 28-0 lead into the second half where they added three more scores to down the Huskies 48-16.
J-Hawk coach, George Warburton, said the game was a “major test” as they had to adjust their offense after Absarokee’s run defense proved difficult to breach.
“They did a great job stopping our run game so we needed to find other ways to move the ball,” Warburton said.
That was a challenge senior quarterback Taylor Rowlison was eager to accept, passing for 258 yards and four touchdowns. He added one 18-yard rushing TD as well. Rylan Olson was the preferred target with six receptions for 134 yards and three TDs, and Caleb Bailey caught two passes for 77 yards.
Trey Oswald had 18 rushes for 54 yards and one TD, and Tyler Butts had three rushes for 20 yards and a score.
“Our quarterback and wide receiver connection was on, and we capitalized by throwing the ball,” Warburton.
On the other side of the ball, the defense shined for the second consecutive week, holding the the Huskies scoreless in the first half.
Justin Harris had eight tackles, one sack and one fumble recovery; Brett Robinson had six tackles and two pass deflections; Oswald had five tackles and caused one fumble.
Warburton said the defensive MVP of the game was Grant O’Rourke who had five tackles, one sack, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
The J-Hawks are at home this week, facing a 1-1 Denton/Geyser/Stanford Bearcat team on Friday at 7 p.m.
