Taylor, Timm on top at time trials

The Laurel cross country team had a preview of the divisional tournament at Hardin on Saturday. Coach Amy Caldeira said the entire division was present and it is the same course that will be used for the divisional meet.
Levi Taylor and Grace Timm followed up their success at the 2nd Annual Sam’s Run by each posting the fastest times in the Eastern A time trials in Hardin on Saturday. Levi ran the 5K race in 17:18.23 and Grace Timm in 19:58.57. The boys team finished on top as a team and the girls finished second.
Haden Wilson took 7th with a time of 19:30.73, Ethan Doty, 8th 19:43.30 Jonathon Herr 11th, 20:04.96 and Ethan Gradwohl, 16th with a time of 20:27.68.
The boys team took first with a score of 43, Hardin was second with 46 and Dawson County third with 82.
The Hardin girls took first with a score of 28 and Laurel was second with 64. Custer County took third with 72.
Andria Mourich had a 9th place finish, posting 23:00.45. Lizzie Wisecup finished 14th with 25:48.71, Haley Broberg was 16th with 26:21.77 and Danae Filpula-Ankney 24th with a time of 27:35.76.
Tre Whitford and Draven Earls were top finishers for the boys JV squad finishing 6th and 7th, and Rachael Rupp and Grace Poolet led the girls JV, finishing 10th and 11th respectively.
Caldeira said she is pleased with both girls’ and boys’ results.
“We have a lot of work to do, but having a meet under our belt allows us to find focus at practice.”
The next meet is at Amend Park in Billings tomorrow, with the race starting at noon.
