FFA alumnus, members rotate North School corner stone

FFA members assisted the Laurel Garden Club move the old North School cornerstone earlier this month. From the left they are Kyle Robertus, Toby Wisecup, Brett Robertus, Ryan Robertus and Alyssa Robertus.

On Aug. 12, FFA alumnus along with present and future members, assisted the Laurel Garden Club turn the cornerstone from the old North School so the front with the date of 1908 can be seen from Main St. The cornerstone and school bell sit in the rose garden on the Laurel Chamber of Commerce grounds.
The club members also helped level the bird bath and dig out a wood plaque in the upper bed so it could be moved.
According to Laurel Garden Club President Pat Hart the bell will be painted in the near future by Sue Carter. She also painted the benches in front of the chamber cabin and the fence in front of the World War I monument.
Garden Club members present were Kayrene Kraft, Hart, Carter and Penelope Ledl. Kraft is the mother of the Robertus children who assisted.
