Dodgers sweep Miles City

The Laurel Dodgers gave up one run in the first then shut out the Miles City Mavericks over the next four innings, claiming a 12-1 victory in Miles City on Saturday.

Carson Hoke and Kanyin Moran each had two hits for the Dodgers. 

Cameron Schriver earned the win, giving up one run on seven hits and striking out five batters.

In the second game of the double header in Miles City, the Dodgers clung to a 4-3 lead after three innings before scoring 8 in the next three to take a 12-5 lead into the bottom of the seventh. The Mavericks mounted a slight comeback, scoring three in their final at-bat but ultimately came up short in the 12-8 loss.

Dawson Cortese, Braden McIlvain and Seth Green each picked up multiple hits for the Dodgers. Cortese, Chase Feller and Kanyin Moran each drove in two runs.

Carson West earned the win for the Dodgers. He pitched four and two-thirds innings, allowing five runs on seven hits while striking out five.

The Dodgers picked up where they left off in Sunday’s double header, outscoring the Mavericks 29-3 to easily win the final two games of their weekend series.

In the 1 p.m. game Dawson Cortese had five RBI’s on a single, a double and a triple and a sacrifice fly. Kanyin Moran added three RBI’s of his own, and Cameron Schriver got two.

Chase Feller picked up the win for Laurel giving up two runs on five hits through four innings. He struck out five Mavericks.

The Dodgers cruised to a 16-0 victory in the final game behind a barrage of runs in the second and third inning. 

Dawson Cortese tossed a three hit shutout for Laurel, while striking out six Miles City players.

Kanyin Moran knocked in four runners on 2-4 hitting, Seth Green got three RBI’s and Deklan Harperr, Dawson Cortese and Noah Gunther each had two.
