Dodgers win five of six games


The Laurel Dodgers jumped out to a quick lead and survived a fifth inning charge by the Bandits for a 14-9 win in the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader in Belgrade.

A five run first inning included four walks and a single by Seth Green. Dawson Cortese, Green and Braden McIlvain had two hits apiece for the game, while four other Dodgers each had one hit.

Josh Anderson earned the win for Laurel, tossing four and a third innings and giving up eight runs on four hits.

In the second game of the double header, Laurel took a 2-1 lead into the bottom of the second inning before giving up seven runs. They went scoreless for the rest of the game and fell to the Bandits 12-2 after five innings. Noah Gunther and Chase Feller each collected multiple hits for the Dodgers. 

Deklan Harper got the loss for the Dodgers and Aden White got the win for Belgrade, pitching five innings and allowing two runs on seven hits.

Laurel committed three errors as a team and Belgrade had five stolen bases, with pitcher White stealing three.

In the first game of Monday’s double header in Glasgow, Dodger’s Cameron Schriver was in the zone, pitching a three-hit shut-out as the Dodgers blanked the Glasgow Reds 10-0.

Laurel took the lead in the first inning on RBI singles by Deklan Harper and Chase Feller, and never looked back. The Dodgers scored three in the second and four in the third behind multiple hits by Dawson Cortese, Carson Hoke and Brendan LeClair.

Carson West struck out 15 batters in six innings as Laurel continued to dominate the Reds in game two with an 11-4 victory. He picked up two earned runs on eight hits for the game.

Glasgow took the early lead, scoring on a wild pitch from West in the bottom of the second inning before the Dodgers took over, outscoring the Reds 8-0 in the third and fourth inning.

Eight different Laurel players had hits, with Deklan Harper, Chase Feller, Kanyin Moran and Cameron Schriver collecting two apiece. Moran and Schriver each had three RBI’s.

Laurel took two games in Sidney against the Richland County Patriots Tuesday evening.


In the first game the Dodgers jumped out to a 5-0 first inning lead then held on for a 9-3 victory. The first inning scores included triples by Dawson Cortese and Cameron Shriver, an error and a single by Braden McIlvain.

Chase Feller pitched a complete game for the Dodgers, giving up three runs on seven hits while fanning nine Patriot batters. 

McIlvain, Cortese and Kanyin Moran each had multiple hits in the game.

In the 7 p.m. contest, the Dodgers held a 5-2 lead into the bottom of the fifth, when Richland County’s Jared Jurgens drove in three runs to tie the game.

Laurel scored two in the top of the seventh and held off the Patriots to win their fifth of six games on their four day road trip. 

Dawson Cortese and Deklan Harper each had two hits for the game.

Carson Hoke earned the win for Laurel, surrendering five runs on four hits in five innings, with seven strikeouts.

The Dodgers next home games are June 11 against Miles City. The first game begins at 1 p.m.
