Dodgers dominate Dillion Cubs

 

In game one at Dodger Field in Thomson Park on Saturday, Laurel rolled to an easy 16-1 victory over Dillon behind strong batting and pitcher Cameron Schriver’s superb one-hit performance.
The Dodgers scored five runs in the third inning and six in the fourth to put the game out of reach. The game ended after the Cubs drew a blank in the top of the fifth.
Chase Feller lead the Dodgers with four runs batted in on two walks and one hit, with Brendan LeClair accounting for three runs on one hit and two walks. Laurel batted .409 as a team for the game.
Schriver’s one-hitter included five strikeouts, no earned runs and no walks. Ben Jones of the Cubs pitched two and a third innings and gave up nine runs on three hits.

The Dodgers dominated the most of the second game as well, scoring 12 unanswered after falling behind 2-0 in the top of the first inning. With Laurel clinging to a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the fourth, they battered the Dillon pitching staff with eight runs off a walk, three singles and a double. The Dodgers added one run in the fifth to end the game with a 12-2 victory.
Cameron Schriver led the team with two RBI’s, while four other players contributed one apiece. The Dodgers batted .454 as a team in the second game of the series.
Pitcher Carson West got the victory with six strikeouts, two walks and one earned run. Dillon pitcher Nick Huber surrendered 11 runs and nine hits against three strikeouts.

Next up for the 7-3 Dodgers is the Gillette Spring Classic in Gillette, Wyoming May 27-29. The Dodgers will face Rapid City, S.D. at 5 p.m. and the Gillette Riders at 7:30 p.m.
