Laurel girls start divisional play today

The Locomotives ran into a little snow last weekend in Butte – enough to cancel one of the warmup games they were looking for as they roll into play this week.
The Locos go into the tournament seeded second to the Red Devils. Laurel and Glendive split games this season – each winning at home – and if the brackets hold out, will play each other in the divisional championship.
Each time the teams have met, there have been a lot of runs, strong pitching and stellar defensive plays.
Divisionals are in Glendive and start today, Thursday.
The top two seeds received byes through the first round.
Laurel plays the winner of the noon game on Thursday versus the winner of the Miles City-Hardin game. The first game is at noon and Laurel’s game is at 4 p.m. Miles City is the heavy favorite in the first game and is a tough match for Laurel.
On the other side of the bracket, Glendive will face the winner of the Sidney, Billings Central game at 10.
The winner of those games plays in the championship on Friday at 2.
Losers of the semifinal games go to loser-out action.
The top two teams head to Sidney the next week.
