After being the top seller three years in a row, Shaelynn Haman has topped her own sales record and sold 1,532 boxes of cookies and counting.
This is Shaelynn’s fifth year in Laurel Girl Scout Troupe 2160.
Every year Shaelynn with her mom Kathy sell cookies nonstop for a few weeks in February to raise money for good causes and good times.
“Whatever we donate to fun [experiences],” she explained. “We donate to donations [good causes].” The money helps pay for trips for the troupe and goes towards other organizations including the Flakesgiving food drive and Toys for Tots.
Cookie purchasers even have the option to donate cookies to U.S. troops to be put into care packages. The troupe already has about 20 boxes ready to ship.
“We donate cookies every year to U.S. troops overseas,” said Shaelynn.
Shaelynn loves meeting new people through the process and earning new badges to add to her already immense collection.
Her best selling cookies, as with most Girl Scouts, are Thin Mint and Samoas.
This year’s sales drive was special because 2017 marks the 100th year of Girl Scout Cookies, hence the new flavor addition, S’Mores.
