The Lady Panthers went up by 10 early Friday night when they hosted the Reed Point/Rapelje Renegades. Shelby Kluth tipped it to MacKinzie Verke who hit Shelby Branstetter going in for a lay-up to start the night.
This was followed by a defensive rebound from Shelby McMillen that was converted into a score from Tehya Ray. Shelby Branstetter put in another 4 while MacKinzie Verke stole the ball and took it in for 2 before RPR could answer with a 3 from Blodgett. The Panthers lead 10-7 after 1.
The second quarter started with Panthers’ Shelby Branstetter adding another 3 with a lay-up and free-throw. However, the Renegades continued to hustle and take it to the hoop keeping them within 4 at the half. MacKinzie Verke had some key offensive rebounds and steals in the 3rd to keep the Panthers on a roll.
The fourth quarter started with the Panthers up by 7 and the Renegades out of answers. Even though it seemed like there was a lid on the Panthers basket, only shooting 47%, they were able to create turnovers and convert into a 14-4 run for a final score of 51-37. MacKinzie Verke not only led all scorers with 16, but led in rebounds and assists.
