Holiday Cheer: Not for Everyone workshop coming to LHS

In an effort to provide support for people in the Laurel community who may be struggling with depression, anxiety, PTSD or other mental disorder, Laurel Public Schools is joining forces with a number of organizations and hosting a free workshop Monday Dec. 5, from 6-8 p.m.
The Community Collaborative Workshop: Holiday Cheer: Not For Everyone will be offered at the Laurel High School Auditorium. Childcare will be provided in the Laurel High School Depot. The topics and presenters include the Executive Director of NAMI-Billings Joe Chalupa. Amie Havner, MS of the Yellowstone Youth Crisis Network will discuss her work, as will Hew Hundley and awareness advocate Michelle Anderson, a trauma-informed care trainer from the Center for Children and Families.
Discussion will focus on education, support and advocacy for all affected by mental illness; the impact of trauma on development and self-care tips and techniques; crisis intervention; and a personal story, “Day in a Life.” After the workshop there will be a question and answer session. The workshop is sponsored by the Center for Children and Families, Healthy by Design, NAMI-Billings, Laurel Public Schools and the Yellowstone Youth Crisis Network.
