The Yellowstone County Homeschool Knights volleyball team took third in the Montana Christian Athletic Association State Championship in Kalispell on Saturday.

Two Laurel residents, Junior Kelsey Beck and Senior Taylor Kroft, play for the Knights, who also took third at State two years ago.

The Knights defeated Bitterroot Home School (Stevensville) in three games in the first round of the tournament last Thursday, then fell to top-seeded Stillwater Christian School (Kalispell) in four. They defeated Heritage Christian School (Bozeman) in three games in the loser’s bracket, then defeated local rival Billings Christian School Warriors in four games to assure no worse than a third-place finish. They faced the defending MCAA state champion Foothills Community Christian School (Great Falls) and fell in three games to take third. FCCS went on to beat Stillwater Christian for their second consecutive state title.

Kroft, the team’s Libero, received all-conference, all-tournament and all-state recognition.
