William Robert Michael

William Robert Michael, 88, of Laurel, passed away February 14, 2018, at his home, surrounded by family and friends.

He was born on November 14, 1929, to Jacob and Marie Michael. On March 29, 1960, he married the love of his life, Frances (Frankie) Ries. His greatest hobby that he enjoyed the most was gardening and spending time with his two cats.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Marie; his wife Frances; son Robert; sister Ruth Krug; bother-in-law Hank Krug; son-in-law John Easterday; mother and father-in-law Frank and Rose Ries; sister Ruth; and brothers-in-law Don Taylor and Art Steinmetz.

He is survived by his three daughters, Karen, Susan and Laurie; his sisters, Jane Taylor and Betty Steinmetz; his brother Walt Michael (Loretta); his aunt Emily Blotkamp; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was blessed to have had these special people in his life, Chester Jordan; Jesse and Katie Miller and Frog; and Pastor Gary Bobo, whose weekly visits dad loved.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at 10 a.m. at Smiths Funeral Chapel in Laurel. Interment will be at the Laurel Cemetery.
