Upcoming events at the Montana Audubon Center

Among the winter offerings at the Montana Audubon Center is the Nature Nuts Toddler Program. Every Tuesday between 10-11 a.m. children ages 18 months (walking) to 4-years-old are invited to learn about the local area by Montana Audubon teacher naturalists. There will be plenty of outdoor play. No registration is required. Each Tuesday class is $6. Participants’ parents or guardians can also pay for eight classes for $40.
Another great activity for children is scheduled one Friday per month at the center. The next Kids Campfire Friday is Feb. 3, 5:30-9 p.m. The cost is $30 per child. Among the fun activities for children ages 4-12, will be campfires, stories, games and lots of exploration of the natural wonders under the supervision of the experienced teacher-naturalist staff. Participants should have appropriate clothing for outdoor activities. Registration is required.
There is a Yellowstone River Walk scheduled Saturday, Feb. 4, 10 a.m.-noon. The cost to participate is $10 per person with children under 12 free. This 680-mile un-dammed river is a cultural and ecological focal point for the entire region. To learn more about it, join staff naturalists for a once-a-month guided walking tour of the river in all seasons, covering both the social and natural history of the area. Reservations are recommended.
Celebrate Valentine’s weekend with a night out in the woods. There will be a special Owl Prowl, Feb. 11, from 6-9 p.m. Our teacher naturalist staff will present a short program on owls in the local area. The presentation will be followed by a walk around Norm’s Island to search for these charismatic creatures of the night. The Owl Prowl is $12 per person and registration is recommended.
All events are at the Montana Audubon Center at 7026 South Billings Blvd. Folks heading south towards the river will see the entrance on the right side of the road. For more information call 294-5099 or view the website at www.mtaudubon.org/center
