Time to take a Christmas driving tour

By David Keyes

Almost like it was planned, Mother Nature this year gave everyone enough time to put up outdoor Christmas decorations and then turned this portion of the planet into one big frozen snow globe.
The Outlook was so inspired by all of the Christmas lights popping up during the past few weeks in and around Laurel, we invited people to send us addresses of homes and businesses you thought lit up the season.
We even sent a photographer out to capture some of the decorations. Evan is still thawing out from that assignment after shooting photos at 20 locations Tuesday night. The best photos will run in this paper as well as on Laureloutlook.com and our Laurel Outlook Facebook page.
The response has been great and since it is too cold to really to anything outside, I would like to use some of this space to maybe give you an excuse to go on a Christmas driving tour.
Nothing compares to bright Christmas lights chasing back the darkness of December evenings. The fact this area embraces decorating for Christmas like it does, shows a true spirit of community. The lights, with the natural flocking of snow, beautifies our homes and yards but also lifts the spirits of those who see what you have done.
Please enjoy the driving tour we have mapped out.
We also would like your help to add more addresses to our list. If you see a house or business that isn’t on the tour, all you have to do is go to the Laurel Outlook Facebook page or Laureloutlook.com.
I am including some of the addresses on our map below. I will do the same next week with any additional addresses.
It is our sincere hope that you make the most of this holiday season and enjoy peace and happiness where you can find it. My personal hope for you is that Christmas can be a time to reflect on family, family traditions and the important things in life.
We hope you enjoy this excuse to get in a vehicle and check out Christmas decorations with friends and loved ones. Stay warm. Be safe. Enjoy.

All the best!
David
