Tester should support DeVos confirmation

The nomination of Betsy DeVos as the next Secretary of Education will put a qualified reformer with nearly 30 years’ experience fighting for local control over educational decisions in charge of the future of American education. I strongly encourage Sen. Jon Tester to vote in favor of DeVos’ confirmation, which will be a clear signal to special interests that it’s no longer “business as usual” in Washington.
DeVos has been on the front lines in the fight to make schools accountable. She helped to create the framework that allowed charter schools in Detroit so children there have a shot at a bright future. She is an outsider, she is solution oriented, and she is the kind of leader who will shake up Washington. She is also someone who will work with individual states to find solutions that are effective for them and not just apply blanket policies. It would be a mistake for Sen. Tester to not support Betsy DeVos for Education Secretary.
