Star Valley Shootout to be broadcast in HD

Outlook staff writer

The Laurel boys and girls basketball teams traveled to Afton, Wyo.–about an hour south of Jackson Hole–yesterday to play in the second annual Star Valley Shootout which tips today and continues through Saturday.
The Lady Locos face Green Canyon of North Logan, Utah at 3 p.m. and the boys face Star Valley of Afton, Wyo. at 5 p.m.
Nine schools from six states are attending the tournament and every varsity game will be broadcast live in high definition video with professional graphics, instant replay and play-by-play announcers courtesy of Star Valley Independent Media.
Loco boys coach Pat Hansen explained the reasoning for the lengthy trip, saying they were missing four regular season games from the schedule. “Our Division stopped having a tip off tournament and AA went to a divisional tournament. That cut them down to 18 instead of 20 regular season games, so we lost two games there,” he said, adding “ it would be nice for fans and players to bring the old Tip-Off tournament back to Laurel.”
The Lady Loco’s next game is tomorrow at 4 p.m. against the Hillcrest Knights of Ammon, Idaho. The boys will either play Hillcrest or Owyhee, Nev. tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. with a loss today, or at 5:30 p.m. with a win.
The games can be viewed online at or on the SVI Media channel on the Livestream app on mobile devices, ROKU, Apple TV and other streaming services.
