St. Vincent Healthcare Foundation announces scholarship opportunities

In keeping with the Mission, Vision and Core Values of St. Vincent Healthcare and funded by generous donors to the hospital, St. Vincent Healthcare Foundation and St. St. Vincent Healthcare Volunteers are honored to offer more than $150,000 in education scholarships. The Foundation believes in providing numerous funding opportunities to the future “leaders” committed to improving the health and well-being of others. Among the scholarships available: 

Healthcare Career

More than $20,000 in scholarships is available this year through the Healthcare Scholarship Program. Applicants must be enrolled or plan to enroll in an accredited post-secondary institution of higher education in pursuit of a career in healthcare. Students from the following counties are eligible: Montana (Yellowstone, Big Horn, Carbon, Custer, Fergus, Golden Valley, Judith Basin, Musselshell, Petroleum, Rosebud, Stillwater, Sweet Grass, Treasure and Wheatland) and Wyoming (Park).
Nelles Nurse Scholarships
In recognition of the amazing nursing care received by his late wife, Flora, the late Ralph Nelles established the Nelles Nurse Scholarships. Available to nursing students, this program provides up to five semesters of financial support with over $100,000 in support. There are up to 10 additional openings for new honorees.    

Theresa Burch Memorial Scholarship
As a tribute to the profession so dearly loved by her sister, Theresa Burch, Judith Wallinder generously established the Theresa Burch Memorial Scholarship for Advanced Practice Nursing. The late Theresa Burch was an exceptional nurse. She had advanced training and was excellent at mentoring less experienced nurses, assuring patients were treated by the most skilled, compassionate and dedicated nursing staff possible. 

Dr. Thomas Johnson
Medical Scholarships

This prestigious scholarship is a tribute to the late Dr. Thomas R. Johnson, who was a renowned orthopedic surgeon and academic physician leader with a special focus on rural patients. The scholarship is geared toward assisting a medical student or medical resident from Montana who is pursuing family practice medicine and/or orthopedic medicine and has a strong commitment to serving rural communities.

Dr. Robert Snider
Medical Scholarships

This scholarship honors the late Dr. Robert Snider’s distinguished contributions in the development of the stellar orthopedic program at St. Vincent Healthcare. The scholarship is open to medical residents from Montana.
