Sonja Strand Simmons, 57 passed into the presence of The Lord on August 27, in Everette, Washington. Sonja was born on October 20, 1961 in Billings, Montana to Merle and Lloyd Strand. She attended grade school in Laurel, Montana and graduated from Yellowstone Valley Christian School. She attended Tennessee Temple College. Sonja moved to Washington State where she met and married Michael Simmons In 1989. She worked as a hair dresser, a cruise consultant and most recently as a representative of an HVAC company at Costco. She loved her job and she loved people. Life handed Sonja lemons on many occasions, but instead of becoming bitter she always added the sweet nectar of her kindness and in turn found ways to show her love to the people in her life. She was proceeded in death by her parents and a great nephew, Justus. She is survived by her husband, Michael; her stepmother, Joetta Strand of Big Timber; brother Mark Strand of Emigrant, Mont.; sister Deanna (Paul) of Belding, Mich.; nephews, Andy and Jeff Leslie and niece Cheyenne Smith; great nephews Kaleb, Titus, Ezra, Asher, Jack, Jace, Gideon, and Zane; and great niece, Severine. 

A memorial service will be held from 4-6 on Monday September 9 in the 3rd Floor Dining Room at the Vintage at Mill Creek Apartment Complex in Mill Creek, Wash. A service of remembrance will be held in Sonja’s home town of Laurel at 11 a. m. at First Baptist Church on Friday Sept. 13.
