Sen. Tester: 2017 a ‘great time to be a Montanan’

By:
Sen. Jon Tester
US Montana Senator

Dear citizens of Laurel,
Thank you to the Laurel Rotary Club for organizing this time capsule.
It is a great time to be a Montanan.
Today, Montana is the best state in the country to start a business and launch a career. Our state is seeing a boom in high-tech jobs, and our manufacturers are shipping made-in-Montana products to every corner of the globe.
Our abundant access to public lands is making Montana a destination for hikers, hunters, and anglers, and contributing to our fast-growing outdoor economy, which sustains over 64,000 jobs annually.
The backbone of our state remains agriculture, and more than ever we are adding value to our crops to produce world-class products here at home. As the U.S. Senate’s only working farmer, there are important steps I will be taking over the next few years to strengthen the Farm Bill and help family farmers and ranchers thrive for years to come.
There is no better place to call “home” than Montana, and 2017 is a year of opportunity in the Treasure State.
As Montana’s senior U.S. Senator, I will continue to work hard, travel across the state to hear input from folks of all walks of life, and fight for Big Sky Country in the halls of Congress because I want our kids and grandkids to have these same great opportunities that we have in Montana today.
I am confident that our Montana way of life will live on, and thanks to this time capsule, folks will get a chance to look back and see how great it was to be a Montanan in 2017.

Sincerely,
Senator Jon Tester
