Rudolf Treumann

On March 13, 2017, Rudolf Treumann, age 96, died at Riverstone Hospice 2230 Mission Way in Billings. He was born August 31, 1920, to Fritz Ludwig and Olga (Gerke Treumann) at Orsha, Russia. He was the oldest of four children. He stayed in Orsha, Russia from 1920 to 1942, from 1942 -1943 he stayed in Probianice, Poland, from 1943 to 1944 to Bergen/Rugen, Poland, where he married the love of his life Frieda Schreiner on November 2,1944. They went from Bergen/Rugen to Eislingen-Fils, Germany. Twins Hans and Anna Marie were born in 1945 and in 1946 another son Fritz Ludwig was born. In 1952, they came to America arriving in New York City March of that year and arriving in Laurel April of ’52. On Feb 10, 1953, their daughter Alfrieda was born.
He worked for the Northern Pacific Railroad before they merged into Burlington-Northern Railroad as a carmen helper from April 1952. He retired on March 1983.
He was preceded in death by his wife Frieda; parents, Fritz and Olga; brother Ludwig; and sisters Adela and Wanda; his father-and mother-in-law Georg and Marie Schreiner; brother-in-law Georg, Alex and Helmut Schreiner; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Alex and Marie (Schreiner) Neibauer; and brother-in-law Jacob Krug and sister-in-law Cathy Schreiner.
He enjoyed reading his Bible and verses in German to his wife Frieda until the loss of his eye sight. He loved his home where he worked on woodwork, gardening and his yard, going fishing with his brother and sister-in-law Alex and Marie and family. He was a great father, friend and loving husband and was there for all of us, including the grandchildren and great grandchildren when they came to visit.
Rudolf is survived by his sons Hans (Marcie), Billings, Fritz (Kathy) of Laure;, daughters Ann Marie (Danny) Lawver, Omak, Wash., Alfrieda (Mark) Toombs of Billings; sister-in-law Lydia Krug south of Laurel; brother-in-law David Schreiner Laurel; sister-in-law Jean (Schreiner); grandchildren Michael (Erica), Scott and Lance Lawver, Tammy (Eric) Summers, Jalynn (Russ) Hawkins, Craig (Katrin) Toombs, Kristy (Sam) Brammer, and Mistie and Tyler Treumann; great grandchildren Krista (Thomas) Bothum, Matthew Lawver, Desiree Lawver, Kristen (Brett) Turvey, Stephen (Kaitlyn) Summers, Chelsy, Carrissa Summers, July (Dayton) Reardon, Evelyne, Guy Treumann, Brooke, Gabriel, Nate, Chase Hawkins, Ashley and Robert Toombs, Audrey, Rosie and Allison Brammer; great-great-grandchildren Axel Summers and Nihya Reardon, and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
The family would like say a special thank you to Riverstone Hospice for their care of Dad. For those who wish in lieu of flowers send a gift to Riverstone Hospice or a charity of your choice.
Funeral services will be held March 22, 2017 at 10 a.m. at the Laurel Baptist Church, 2920 Outfitter Trail, and visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Smith Funeral Chapel-Laurel. Burial will be in the Laurel Cemetery. Smith’s Funeral Chapel is in charge of these arrangements. After the burial services the family invites everyone to the Laurel Baptist Church for refreshments.
