Rosala (Sally) Frickel Dawes passed away February 12th, 2021.

Sally was born to David and Mary (Krug) Frickel, March 23rd 1948 at their home in Laurel, Montana where she was raised. After graduating she went to start her Nurse training while working as an Aide at the Columbus Nursing Home. Soon after, Sally went on a trip to California where she met and married her Husband, Fred, February 8, 1969. She was a baker at Winchell’s Donuts Bakery for 12 years while residing in San Bernardino.

Together they had four children, Jeanie Marie, Clinton Wayne, Richard Everett Edward and Mary Elizabeth.

Fred passed away in March of 1981. Sally returned to Laurel at that time to take care of her mother, and raise Richard and Mary.

Sally had a daycare for over 30 years. In her later years she became known to many as “Grandma Sally.” She could always be found with a house full of kids. She loved to Quilt and Bake and often gifted people with her handmade patchwork quilts. She loved to share stories, from growing up working beets in the summertime, to being the wife of a Hell’s Angel. She related to so many people in her life and truly had a heart of gold.

We will never stop missing you.

Sally is survived by her son, Richard Dawes and daughter Mary (and Steve) Riesinger; son-in-law John Herr and daughter-in-law Cody Dawes; grandchildren Alyssa, Kaitlyn, Johnathan, Nolan, Bianca and Paisley; her brother Dave Frickel, and many nieces and nephews and dear cousins. She always held a special place in her heart for two of her nieces Teri Lynn and Gina. (she said you’d know and wanted you to hear it one more time)

Mom is preceded in death by her parents David and Mary; her husband Alfred Wayne Dawes; her infant children Jeanie and Clint; sisters, Lydia Brester, Mary Kraft,  Betty Pease and Lydia (Dot) Frank; brothers, Ruben, Adolph, Harold, Jim, Bill and Tom.

Celebration of Life will be held from 11:30 a.m.- 2 p.m. at Best Western Yellowstone Crossings, Laurel Montana on June 12, 2021. Please join us for a potluck luncheon.

Sally requested a celebration with no official funeral services .
