Registration for SAM’s run open

Thursday, September 24, 2020

SAM’s run is going virtual this year. The event is to benefit Step In, a program designed to increase community awareness of suicide prevention and the importance of mental health. Please join us to increase awareness and come together as a community to show support for mental health and making healthy choices.

Because the run is virtual, you can choose any route and any day to do it up until October 7. We will provide more information on the virtual aspect as we get closer. We would love to have pictures of all of you running/walking it so we’ll provide a link where you can share your photos.

We ordered extra shirts and they will be available on a first come first serve basis at packet pickup for everyone who registers after September 16. You will be asked for your shirt size even if you register after the 16th, but we can’t guarantee you will get one or the size you indicate. Sign up early if you want a guaranteed shirt–and you do because they are SUPER cool! There is an option for a long sleeve shirt this year as well. If there are extras after race participants get shirts, they will be for sale at the race.

Because we aren’t having the run in person, we are planning a packet pickup event. We will have food (warm chocolate chip cookies), a photo booth and educational videos. One of Step In’s goals is raising awareness and we are hoping that everyone will grab some food and sit for a few minutes and watch. While you may not be struggling with mental illness, do you know what to say and do when your friend, child, co-worker, or neighbor tells you they need help? So, bring the family, pick up your awesome shirt, get a photo with the llama, and stay for some food! The packet pickup is on Wednesday, September 30 from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. at 917 Washington (Grace Bible Church).

To register go to stepin406. com or go to the Step In Facebook page.
