City crew came through

My wife died on January 17th. Many relatives were coming to Laurel for her memorial service. The driving lanes on 4th St. were passable, but there was no room to park cars along the street. I called Public Works and in less than 30 minutes Matt [Wheeler] returned my call to ask what I wanted. when I explained the situation to him he told me someone would be there shortly. Within 15 minutes a front-end loader appeared and very quickly there was room to park four vehicles against the curb.
I am so grateful for the rapid and compassionate response I received and I thank Matt and the crew for their service. May God bless you all.

Residents to the rescue

My granddaughter and I were returning from Billings via West Maryland, last week, when my 4-wheel-drive light pickup was thrown across the road into the barrow ditch via a rut in the road. It was not more than a couple of minutes before a gentleman, wearing a Laurel Basketball jacket, stopped to assist. Before I knew it, two more pickups stopped, and with a bit of shoveling and a tow rope I was pulled out and on my way. I was so grateful! When I told my sister, who lives part-time in Montana, about my experience, she said, “Laurel has the nicest people!” I agree. Thank you to those men and one wife for stopping, helping, and seeing me safely on my way. How grateful I am to be a long time resident of this wonderful town and the people who are friendly and helpful. Thank you!
