Random Acts of Kindness week a success at Middle School

Laurel Middle School teacher and activity organizer Amy Caldeira said the Random Acts of Kindness Week was a success. She shared some of the activities middle school students participated in:

• 72 kids helped the custodians with end of the day tasks and lunchroom cleanup.

• 52 8th graders went to Graff to have recess with the kids there and to pass out Kindness Notes.

• Every student in the MS wrote a kindness note for an adult in their life to thank them for helping them.

• Every advisory class watched a video and had a lesson on kindness this week.

• All students and staff filled out a heart describing their act of kindness.

• Honors Club gave gift cards to the PTA.

• Student Gov’t gave gift cards to custodians and lunch staff.

• Clubs made announcements all week, including kindness quotes each day.

• Staff gave chocolates to Custodians and Lunch Staff.

• Yearbook staff gave away yearbooks.

• WEB kids (mentors) made Valentine’s Day cards for their 5th graders and 5th graders did the same for them.

Caldeira said she hopes RAK week continues to expand in the future. “We hope to add a community aspect to the week next year,” she said.
