Representatives from Northwestern Energy recently showed the Outlook the site of the proposed RICE plant. Roy Ishkanian, on the left, is the company’s manager of lands and permitting, in the middle is Community Relations Manager Lisa Perry, and on the right, Jo Dee Black, public relations specialist. The three are standing to the south of a Northwestern Energy substation on Lindy Lane that will be used to transmit the electricity generated by the new natural gas-powered plant. This Google-map image provided by Northwestern Energy shows the land the company recently purchased for the proposed RICE generating plant in Laurel. Just to the north of the area outlined in red is a substation the company plans to expand to handle the increased electricity that will be generated by the new plant. The area outlined is the newly acquired 33 acres. The company owns the adjoining seven acres the substation sits on, as well.
