Counterfeit $5 bills floated at Walmart; Secret Service called

The following represent a portion of the calls responded to by officers from the Laurel Police Department. Unless otherwise indicated, all cases are considered under investigation. Anyone with information about these or other crimes is encouraged to call the LPD at 628-8737.
On Jan. 9, at 12:16 p.m., a theft was reported from the Walmart parking lot. A customer had gone into the store and when he returned to his truck he saw a yellow Werner six-foot ladder was gone. Police have information regarding a suspect vehicle.
On Jan. 10, at 7:38 p.m., a burglary was reported on the 600 block of E. Main St. The complainant had been doing maintenance on a vacant property and had tools stolen from the site. Missing are a Kobolt drill/impact hammer valued at $190.
On Jan. 13, at 12:13 a.m., on the 600 block of E. 4th St., dispatch received a report of tires slashed with suspects in the area. Officers made contact, but no charges have been filed.
On Jan. 13, at 8:20 a.m., Officers were dispatched to the Laurel High School office for a disorderly student. A 17-year-old male student was cited into youth court.
On Jan. 13, at 12:12 p.m., Officers were dispatched to Walmart where three counterfeit $5 bills had been discovered. LPD notified the Secret Service.
On Jan. 13, at 5:51 p.m., a resident who had been tracking a package reported it had been delivered but was missing upon the complainant’s arrival home. This may be the second missing package. One was valued at $35, the other at $60. An investigation is on-going.
On Jan. 15, Officers were dispatched to the Best Western for the theft of a television. The Phillips TV was valued at $500. The room had been paid for with a fraudulent credit card and the suspect used an alias. Police have identified a suspect.

Stillwater County
On Jan. 9, at 7:12 p.m., on I-90 at mile marker 426 a sedan slid into the median. A tow-truck moved the vehicle and there were no injuries reported.
On Jan. 9, at 8:21 p.m., at mm 421 I-90 a Honda Odyssey slid off into the ditch. There were no injuries and ambulance and fire department were not needed.
On Jan. 10, at 6:31 p.m., at 315 6th St. a 56-year-old female collapsed and was transferred by Columbus ambulance to Billings Clinic. She was stable after arrival.
On Jan. 10, at 11 p.m., on I-90 mm 427 a driver reported an accident between two semis. There were no injuries and the section of road was blocked off until it was cleared.
On Jan. 12, at 5:20 p.m., on the 100 block of Schreiner Rd. a resident reported that four of his horses were missing. They are all light in color and had a brand of a heart and a six on them. The horses were later found.
On Jan. 13, at 4:52 p.m., on South Clark St. a Volkswagen Jetta was pulled over and the driver was issued a citation for having an expired registration.
On Jan. 13, at 10:44 p.m., at the Park City Zip Trip an officer stopped a suspect and arrested him after he confirmed a warrant on the suspect with the Billings Police Department.
On Jan. 14, at 4:15, at mm 422 I-90 a white Mitsubishi was pulled over and the driver was issued citations for having no registration and no insurance.
On Jan. 15, at 11:54 a.m., on the 300 block of 2nd St., a resident reported suspicious activity near his parked Kenworth truck. Someone had siphoned all of the gas out of his truck. No suspect was arrested.
On Jan. 15, at 8:28 p.m., on Cemetery Rd. a vehicle was pulled over by a Laurel Police Officer and the driver was issued a DUI.
