Patrick James Smith

June 26, 1952 – January 18, 2017
 Patrick J. Smith

A new chapter for Patrick J. Smith began when he met his best friend and partner in crime. Pat married Penny Werner on May 22, 2004 in Roberts, Mont. On their special day of expressing his love and promises to Penny A BIG BEAUTIFUL BLENDED FAMILY was formed. They called Laurel home.
Pat loved to watch football and baseball. He really enjoyed seeing the Chicago Cubs win the World Series this year. He always rooted for the Denver Broncos or other family member’s favorite teams. He also enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting and cutting wood all year around. Camping was another enjoyable experience even if most of the time it meant putting the wall tent up in the side yard with a portable outhouse in the driveway. He always had the radio playing and a cup of coffee in hand or nearby.
Pat was always styling from head to toe with a cap, sunglasses and his DC shoes on. He always had a grin from ear to ear. He had a special love for his “Ole Blue” Ford and his wood splitter, along with his two furry family members Boots and Roy.
Pat is survived by the love of his life Penny, eight children; 17 grand children; two brothers and two sisters; several nieces and nephews; many cousins and numerous family and friends from far and near.
Pat fought a brave and hard battle with cancer. He will be greatly missed but remembered as a strong man who always looked for the good in all, even in the worst of events life hands us from time to time. His family knows in their hearts that he is now home and pain free. We will credit him from here on out as being one of many angels watching over us. We all know he will obviously be the brightest star in the sky as we call it a night.
Pat was proceeded in death by his parents Glen and Montana Smith.
Services will be held at Smiths Funeral Chapel in Laurel Friday, Jan. 27, 2017 at 2 p.m. by Pastor Wayne.
Pat will be laid to rest in the Laurel Cemetery following the services and a
gathering will follow at the Calvary Church, 2121 South 48th Street West in Billings.
