Pastor James “Jim” Dawson, 50, of Laurel, Montana passed away suddenly on Friday March 12, 2021. Jim was born in Charleston, West Virginia where he met and married his wife Trish in 1992. They had two children, Raven Swartwood and Devlin Dawson and two grandchildren Lucius and AJ.

Jim was the Pastor at First Congregational Church of Laurel Montana. He received his Bachelor’s in Theology from Ambassador Christian College in North Carolina. He is the author of three religious books and two songs. Jim loved to play disc golf and designed the course located at First Congregational Church. He also loved to travel and fish. If you were around him for any length of time you would hear one of his fishing stories. Jim loved to make people laugh and approached each day with excitement and enthusiasm. Many will remember talent night at church when Jim started the night off with a gospel rap. He was always the first one to sit on the ground with the children around him and join in on whatever game they were playing. He loved every game that required precision, from basketball to chess to horseshoes. He dedicated his life to bringing people to Jesus and would be the first one to tell you that you will see him again in Heaven. He would plan his vacation Bible school classes for weeks, always trying to top the previous year to make the message and memory of Jesus stick with the children for the rest of their lives. He was always available to the members of his church and his brothers and sisters in Christ. He remembered birthdays and anniversaries, he celebrated births and mourned deaths with the same love and adoration for God’s plan. His favorite scripture says everything you need to know about him. 1 Corinthians 15:55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? Jim was larger than life and will be greatly missed.

Jim is preceded in death by his father Clyde “Butch ”Dawson. He is survived by his wife Patricia Dawson, son Devlin Dawson, daughter Raven Swartwood, mother Mary Parker Dawson and grandchildren Lucius and AJ.
