The first leg of Park City’s 4x400 meter relay team, Garrett McMillen. McMillen helped his team place 5th in the 400 meter relay, with a great time of 3:36.58.

At the Class C state track meet in Laurel last weekend, the Park City Panthers only managed six points total from their eight athletes that qualified for the meet.

Senior Seth Popp scored four points for the Panthers, which came from his 6-00 foot high jump. He placed fourth, and was able to gain his team some points. The Panthers’ 4x400 relay team also placed in fifth place. Made up of Garrett McMillen, Jake Gauthier, Corbin Downing, and Garrett Zimdars, the 1600 meter relay team ran a time of 3:36.58 seconds. This was good enough for a fifth place finish, which gained the Panthers two points. Zimdars and McMillen both ran the 400 meter run, and both set PR times. McMillen also placed 10th in the triple jump, setting his new PR with a 41-02 jump, and 11th in the javelin. Downing also set a PR at state; he was clocked at 43.49 in the 300m hurdles.

In her last track meet in high school, Blakely Verke threw a PR javelin throw. Although she only placed 23rd amongst class C girls in the events, she threw a 90-00 foot throw, which was long enough to set her new PR. She also placed 17th in the high jump. Freshman Tasha Dedmore got her first taste at the state track meet, placing 23rd in the 800 meter run.

Congratulations to the Panthers on a great track and field season. The Panthers will now be saying goodbye to Connor McNeil, who was unable to make it to state although he was qualified in the 110m and 300m hurdles. They also say goodbye to Seth Popp and Blakely Verke, both of which participated in their last meets this past weekend.
