Park City still searching for their identity

The Panthers got blown out by 25 in a loss against Plenty Coups and then the next day they gave up only 25 to Fromberg in a lopsided victory of their own. Two games, two nights and two very different Park City Panthers.
The boys were suppose to have a great, deep run this season as they have six returning seniors on their team and a young up and coming star in Rylan Gauthier. Expectations were high it seemed at the beginning of the season.
The year so far has had it’s highs and lows as Roger Heimbigner has had a somewhat disappointing second year as head coach.
The Panthers couldn’t stop anyone on Plenty Coups. The Warriors were only ten points shy of breaking the 100 point mark behind high-scoring games from Kobe Gutierrez, 18, Blake DeCrane, 23 and Arlo Male Bear Jr. who also finished with 23.
Park City’s Rylan Gauthier and Talon Johnstone combined for 39 of their teams’ 65 points with 20 and 19, but it wasn’t nearly enough against the kind of night the Warriors were having.

Plenty Coups 24 28 20 18 — 90
Park City: Rylan Gauthier 20, Connor McNeil 6, Tucker Zuhoski 7, Peyton Moe 2, Talon Johnstone 19, Lane Lowell 11.
Plenty Coups: Kobe Gutierrez 18, Blake DeCrane 23, Arlo Male Bear Jr. 23, Skylar Plainfeather 12, Brendan Falls Down 5, Ethan Lambert 9.

After such a disappointing loss to Plenty Coups on Friday where coach Roger Heimbigner saw his team have a monumental breakdown on defense his boys had a chance to redeem themselves the very next day, last Saturday against Fromberg.
Same Park City team, but entirely different results. Which has been a problem for the team most of the season. They have had no consistency to really find their own identity and make a serious run.
They only allowed the Falcons to score 25 points in a 63-25 whooping. These were the very same boys who just gave up an NBA level box-score to Plenty Coups the day previous.
The Warriors and Falcons are very different teams, but the Panthers have to learn how to play together and play well together on any given night if they are to be taken seriously this season.
The upside for Heimbigner’s team is that at least they can bounce back after a devastating defeat. The downside is they have been up and down like this all season.
Rylan Gauthier led his squad with 16 and has been putting together a decent season for being only a junior.
The Panthers will try to get some traction this week in front of their home crowd on Jan. 20, when they play Reed Point-Rapelje, home, at 7:30 p.m.
