Panthers pick up first football win of 2014

The Park City Panthers wasted little time in showing they put a heartbreaking season-opening loss behind them as they stormed past Harlowton-Ryegate 36-8 Friday night in Harlowton.

Mason Moe hauled in a four-yard scoring strike from Ty Robbie to put Park City up 8-0 early in the contest before Robbie scored on a 10-yard run later in the quarter.

Robbie added two more scoring tosses as the senior signal caller was six for 11 through the air for 127 yards. He added 63 yards on the ground on 12 carries.

Connor May led the Park City attack with 111 yards on the ground on 21 attempts while McNeil added 52 yards on 10 carries.

Moe finished the game with two catches for 72 yards and McNeil hauled in a scoring pass that covered 40 yards before he added a six-yard scoring run.

Park City (1-1) hosts defending state champion Ennis Saturday night at 7 p.m.

The Mustangs are 2-0 on the field this season, but the Southern C Standings reflect a 1-1 mark as it was determined they used an ineligible player in Ennis’ 46-6 season-opening win over Broadview-Lavina last month.

According to a Great Falls Tribune report, Ennis head coach Jay Fredrickson reported the violation to the Montana High School Association last week.

“We played an ineligible player,” Frederickson told the Tribune on Sunday. “… We were down to our fourth string, and a player got into the game who only had 11 practices.”

Ennis defeated Shield’s Valley this past weekend 56-6.
