Package thieves and drunk drivers in Laurel; rape and slashed tires in Stillwater

Laurel Police Report

The following represent a portion of the calls responded to by officers from the Laurel Police Department. Unless otherwise indicated, all cases are considered under investigation. Anyone with information about these or other crimes is encouraged to call the LPD at 628-8737.

March 9

• At 12:48 p.m. Samuel Caron, 19, was arrested for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

March 12

• At 9:01 a.m. Aaron Miller, 38, of Laurel was arrested for violation of an order of protection.

• At 11:16 p.m. Carbon County deputies called in a report of a possible impaired driver who went to Taco Bell in Laurel. Officers responded and after an investigation Roy McKay Jr., 49, of Texas was arrested for DUI (1st offense).

March 13

• At 4:13 p.m. a theft of a package was reported on the 600 block of West Maryland.

• At 10:15 p.m. a theft of a package was reported on the 600 block of West Maryland.

March 15

• At 10:44 p.m. officers responded to Wendy’s for a report of an impaired driver. Upon arrival, William Kennedy Jr, 55, of Laurel was arrested for DUI (4th offense).

 

Stillwater County Sheriff’s Office

March 8

• At 11:51 a.m. LPD advised of a sexual assault that occurred near Sportsman Park on Jan. 18 involving a juvenile female from Laurel. It was reported to a school counselor who contacted law enforcement. Laurel officers advised they had made multiple contacts with the mother of the victim who stated too much time had passed since she was notified about it. At 9:55 a.m. on March 10 a deputy advised they were en route to pick up the victim and mother and take them to the location to establish if the offense was committed in Yellowstone or Stillwater County. It was determined to be a Stillwater case.

• At 12:44 p.m. the Child Abuse Hotline called and advised a male juvenile was seen at school with marks on his neck, chest and face. The juvenile stated his uncle hurt him during an argument over the weekend. They had argued a second time and the juvenile said he was told he would be stabbed and shot. He stated he was frightened and had slept with a knife under his pillow. At 3:38 p.m. Stillwater Mine dispatch attempted to locate an individual who deputies requested to speak with. At 4:06 p.m. Child Protective services had removed the child from the home. At 8:02 p.m. a deputy spoke with the suspect who stated he would be back in town at 10 p.m.

• At 4:24 p.m. Laurel dispatch advised of an accident with injuries where a car had hit a pole. At 4:38 p.m. a Laurel ambulance was on scene. At 4:39 a deputy stated the suspect was on the run and was going to use a drone to try and locate them. At 5:02 p.m. the suspect was in custody for a possible DUI.

March 11

• At 2:26 p.m. a 911 caller on 1st Ave. SE stated a guy was driving around slashing tires on cars. She stated her vehicle’s tires were slashed 10 minutes prior and a neighbor witnessed it. At 2:56 p.m. a deputy had talked with the involved parties.

March 13

• At 12:44 a.m. a caller on 1st St. SW reported a male outside their residence. They didn’t know what they were doing but her husband started following him by the football field. At 12:54 a.m. a deputy advised it was just a highly intoxicated individual trying to make it home. At 12:58 a.m. the subject had been dropped off at his residence and advised to remain there.

March 14

• At 3:28 p.m. a 911 caller near mile marker 419 on Interstate 90 stated their car was disabled and needed a tow truck. Dispatch gave him Hanser’s phone number.
