Open house for heroes and horses

Heroes and the horses will be celebrated at the annual holiday open house at Horses Spirits Healing Inc. at noon, Dec. 17, 2016. The public is invited for this special day at Intermountain Equestrian Center, 7257 Hwy. 3, in Billings, when the equine therapy program that helps disabled veterans demonstrates the magic that happens when horses interact with hurting veterans.
Intermountain Equestrian Center is located about 6.5 miles west of Zimmerman Trail.
“This is where the hurting come to heal,” said Paul Gatzemeier, HSHI President. “Our program combines professional, trained counselors and volunteers to work with veterans who suffer from a variety of injuries and disabilities.”
The open house will feature talks with veterans using the program, demonstrations with horses and staff, facilities tours, music, free lunch, apparel raffles and homemade holiday treats.
“We will have a festive day filled with holiday spirit and recognition of the sacrifices of the men and women who have served or are serving now in our military,” Gatzemeier said. “It would be wonderful for the public to come — bring the kids — and enjoy the afternoon. Any day around horses and Veterans is a good day.”
HSHI will also celebrate its recent status as a Premier Accredited Center through Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International. Through certification and accreditation programs, plus a wide variety of educational resources that includes an annual international conference that can attract close to 1,000 attendees,
“It’s a rigorous process and a meaningful achievement for our program,” Gatzemeier said. “It means we provide the best professional program possible.”
