New Laurel interchange fully operational

Thursday, October 1, 2020

The West Laurel Interchange is now complete and fully operational. A few minor work items remain, but nothing that will impact traffic. MDT realizes construction impacts residents and travelers and appreciates everyone’s patience.

Project completion includes construction of two new bridges and rebuilding of 1.2 miles of I 90. This section of I 90 now provides increased safety features to include wider shoulders and gentler curves. West Railroad Street was repaved. In addition, the old on and off ramps that provided limited access to and from I 90 were closed and replaced with four new interchange ramps at 19th Avenue West. A new bridge was constructed over I 90, and 19th Avenue West was realigned to provide full access to and from I 90. Golf Course Road and 19th Avenue West were realigned at the intersection of Old US 10 to accommodate increased traffic volumes. MDT and Riverside Contracting delivered the project on schedule and on budget.

MDT is continually striving to improve road safety ( and provide everyone who drives on Montana roads an enjoyable experience. To share comments or concerns with MDT, visit
