Nancy Lee Jacobson McCullough, 73, was born to Lena and Walter Jacobson on June 14, 1947, and passed away on March 25 from a short irreparable illness. Nancy was born and raised in Billings and spent a portion of her teen years in Long Beach, California, graduating from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1965. On August 1, 1970, she married Tim McCullough in Long Beach. While Tim was in the Navy, Nancy moved to Alameda to work. The couple returned to Billings in January 1973. On June 1, 1974, Nancy gave birth to son Jeffrey Alan McCullough. Their second son, Roger Bryan McCullough, was born on April 15, 1976. In August 1977, the family moved to Laurel where the family overlooks the train yard.

In her professional life, Nancy worked for Safeway Transportation in Oakland, California. Back in Billings, she worked as a secretary in the president’s office for Burlington Northern. Later she moved to the position of Supervisor of Manpower Control for BN. In 1987, she was hired by Montana Rail Link as a clerk and retired from her position in February 2001 due to multiple sclerosis. In her retirement, she could often be found gardening and landscaping her yard. Many people would say her yard was the most beautiful one they had ever seen. Her happiest days were digging in the dirt. She was also a fan of helping stray cats and would put out food and water daily for whichever needy cat wandered past.

The family would like to thank all the medical professionals who helped her through her illnesses. She has been cremated and her ashes will be put in a cat shaped cookie jar and placed next to her son, sister, mother, and niece in the Laurel Cemetery at a later date.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Tim; son, Roger; brother, John and sister, Linda McRae, and her chosen extended children Eran Thompson, Jennifer Maas Nelson and Eddy, and Sara Maas as well as many nieces, nephews, and her friends from the Laurel Senior Center. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, sister Susan Ricci, brother Dicky Jacobson, and her son, Jeff.

If you would like to honor Nancy, please help any stray animal you see, start a flower or vegetable garden, and plant a tree. A donation to any charity of your choice would be appreciated too. She lived 26,948 days and made a positive impact on everyone she met. Well done, good and faithful servant.
