Montana Wilderness Association announces area walks

Beginning in May and lasting throughout the summer and into the fall, Montana Wilderness Association is offering more than 100 free day hikes, overnight trips, and trail building and maintenance projects across some of the state’s most magnificent backcountry, much of it in the south-central area of Montana, with easy access for folks in Laurel and the surrounding communities.
The general public can now view the entire Wilderness Walks schedule and sign up for a Wilderness Walk at wildmontana.org/walks. The entire schedule is also available in MWA’s Discover Wild Montana publication, a benefit for MWA members. Members are given a two-week period to sign up for a Wilderness Walk before registration opens to the public. Become a member online at wildmontana.org.
In addition to Wilderness Walks, MWA is also offering the public the opportunity to volunteer this summer on nine different volunteer trail projects happening mostly along the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail, from the Beaverhead Mountains up the Badger-Two Medicine. Those interested can begin signing up for a trail project and view the entire schedule at wildmontana.org/trailvolunteer.
Now in its 55th season, MWA’s Wilderness Walks program continues to offer hikers of all ages and experience levels an opportunity to participate in traditional recreation opportunities while enjoying Montana’s quiet beauty and remaining wild places.
