Michael Jay Boyd

Michael Jay Boyd, age 72, went home to be with Jesus on August 18, 2022. He passed away quietly at his residence in Laurel, Montana, after a 2-year battle with cancer. Michael was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa, on February 14, 1950, to Ted and Jeannine Boyd. He grew up with 2 sisters, Susan and Jan. They moved to Omaha, NE and at age 13, the family moved to Libby, Montana, where he graduated from Libby High School in 1968. He joined the Air Force and faithfully served 20 years before retiring. He earned 3 medals and 5 awards/ribbons during his service. He continued his career in Cytotechnology until retiring in 2016.

Mike was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball and Nebraska Huskers college football fan and loved cheering “Go Big Red!!!” He loved visiting Yellowstone and Glacier Parks and was awed by the beauty God created. His love, collection, and knowledge of movies was incomparable. Mike was a kind and gentle man, devoted to loving and praising his Lord. Even in the hardest of times he would say “God is good” and meant it.

Mike is survived by his wife, Cyndi, his sister Jan Hull (Duane), his children Michelle Hart, John Zunino, Mark Zunino, Angela Zunino and Stephanie Boyd. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents Ted and Jeannine Boyd and his sister Susan.

The celebration of Mike’s life will take place Saturday, Sept. 10, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Grace Bible Church, 917 Washington Ave, Laurel, Montana. His ashes will be buried Monday, Sept. 12, 2022, at 9 a.m. at Yellowstone National Cemetery with military honors.

In his memory, please wear red. He would like that.
